After a long, dormant period, handheld consoles are on the rise again. A retro handheld is an excellent way to experience nostalgic games on the go.

It quickly emerges that people have very different tastes, with some favouring the brutalist retro sci-fi look, while others prefer the shiny Y2K CD player look of the Panasonic Q and others like the 1970s living room aesthetic of the Atari 2600 (see our Atari 2600+ review ).

Authorities in Italy have busted a lucrative retro game trafficking ring which is said to have been suppling fake vintage consoles and games worth almost €50m ($55.5m).

With games like Xenocrisis , Driving Strikers, and many more. Given that not that many Dreamcasts were sold, and that the number of functional units is dropping by the day, I can't help but salute these plucky indie and hobbyist developers.

A police action results in a seizure of thousands of fake retro consoles and millions of pirated games with an estimated combined worth of over $50m.
