At least six people have been arrested as gardaí cleared protesters off O'Connell Bridge in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

Several people are due to appear before courts in Dublin on Friday following Thursday's anti-immigration protest and anti-racism counter-protest.

Two Garda Public Order Units were deployed to clear protesters who had staged a sit-down protest on O’Connell Bridge

Gardaí were required to respond to a number of public order incidents in Dublin during the anti-immigration protest and anti-racism counter-protest on Thursday, September 19.

Dublin City Centre brought traffic in the area to a standstill. A group of anti-immigration protestors staged a sit-down protest on O’Connell Bridge after they marched from O’Connell Street to the Dáil and back again.

Sixteen people have been charged following protests in Dublin city yesterday. The charges include possession of a knife, assault and criminal damage. 100 Gardaí were drafted in yesterday evening to deal with anti and pro-immigration protests in the city centre.

SIXTEEN PEOPLE ARE to appear in court charged with public order offences at a protest in Dublin yesterday. Gardaí had arrested 22 people yesterday as part of a policing operation in response to an anti-immigration protest in the city centre.

There are two protests happening in Dublin city centre. An anti-immigration protest is currently taking place on O'Connell Street as the main street has been shut to traffic. Across the river, an anti-racism counter protest is taking place off Grafton Street.
